I am currently reading Durgasthamana by TaRaSu ( T.R.Subba Rao). It is supposed to be the magnum opus of TaRaSu. This book is about Madakari Nayaka of Palegara dynasty of Chitradurga. The author also hailed from the same place. Well, the book has definitely been interesting so far. This book has definitely allured me to visit Chitradurga sometime. Wikipedia gives the following information:
"One outstanding feature especially in his historical writings is his impeccable research. TaRaSu has succeeded in recreating the 18th and 19th Century Chitradurga in his books. It is nearly photographic."

I've heard about durgasthamana, but never had a chance to read. I will pick it up if it is that good. I recently finished reading Chittal's Shikari, which is one of the best books I have ever read and is definitely a classic. It is about finding/losing your identity in a bullying corporate culture, but goes well beyond that theme.
"Shikari" sounds very interesting, krupesh. I shall start looking for it. Thanks.:))
Durgastamana is superb & gretest historic novel in kannada, i have read twice, before reading durgastamana its better read in the sequesnce on same auther(Ta RA SU) 's Kambaniya Kuyilu, Thirugu Baana, Hosa Hagalu and Vijayotsava series, which are also says about Durga's history from the begening.
Before writing Durgasthana, Ta Ra Su has written a series of books picturing the early paleygaras of Chitradurga. The authors research and already completed successful work on the early Chitradurga paleygaras has magnified has potential to present the events and the rule of Madhakari nayaka in a biographical literature. Reading Durgasthama is just truly a rare experience, one will for sure experience the “sweet taste of Kannada” the “Artistic literature” the “Intelligent narration” and what not.. You shall re-experience the history as a contemporary.
