The other day, I was discussing about a question that is often posed to us- "What is the goal of your life?"

Sure, the question sounds very simple. And most of you must be ready with answers. Well, when I posed the question to people whom I know, I got the following answers:
- To become the CEO of a company
- To earn $$$$$$$$$$$$$
- To build a palatial house
- To own the ------- car
- To build an orphanage
- To travel to many places
and the list goes on........

The best part is that when we say that we do not have any goal that is on the list, people look at us like we were idiots! But it is true. Some of the things in the list may be short-term goals. They may be some intermediate destinations in our journey of life. But how can they be your supreme destination in life? Does our life stop at these things?

I do not know about the final destination of my life. I do not know what future holds for me. I take each day as it comes. I try to give my best to each day. That is all I wanna do- I wanna "live" my life. Meanwhile, if I can bring up smiles on some faces, if I can speak some soothing words to allay others' pain, then I think my life becomes more meaningful.
Ok, so "I did it", "I achieved it", "I am better than her/him", "I ""I"- and it goes on. And then, from above I look at the universe. I search for myself. I search for my existence. No, I am not able to locate myself. I can see that there are lot of specks there. May be I am one of them. I am just one of those tiny specks......

Lift up yourself by yourself
Examine yourself by yourself
Thus self protected and attentive
You will live joyfully
For self is the master of self
Self is the refuge of self
Therefore tame yourself
Like a merchant tames a noble horse

There are lot of "spiritual cults" in our society today. You can see lot of followers of every cult. Also, you will find lot of criticism and cynicism against these cults.

Personally, I am not a follower of any particular cult. But I do listen to their gurus, read their books and go through various courses of different cults. I have realised that these cults are very much similar- the teachings and the preachings are not very different. So I take the best out of all these cults and inculcate them in my life.

As I mentioned before, there are lot of people who abhor such cults. They feel that people who follow them are non-thinkers, superstitious and so on. Well, all are entitled to their opinions. But if people are content with various ways to beat stress and find peace , I think we should let them be. After all, yoga, pranayama or meditation or anything positive thought by these cults will always be lifetime assets.

It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinions; it is easy in solitude to live after your own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.

Mohe Rang De Basanti

There was a time when my friends and myself were heavily inspired by the movie "The Legend of Bhagat Singh". The fact, that Bhagat Singh at such an early age, had dedicated his entire life for a great cause, intrigued us. Ok, why did I talk about this now? Because all those memories came back to me when I watched "Rang De Basanti".

On saturday evening, I was very excited as I was finally getting to watch "Rang De Basanti". I had heard so much about the movie. And me being a big fan of Aamir Khan, I was very much looking forward to the movie.

I think that the movie met all my expectations. It is definitely very well made. Each actor has contributed his/her best to the movie. Each role, irrespective of its length, is significantly portrayed in the movie. And Rahman's music is the cherry on the cake.:)

I do not want to say that this movie will make you think and blah-blah. Yes, it definitely is packaged with a message. It is probably a movie with which we can identify ourselves. (Are you listening, my revolutionary friends? :D)

Applause for the whole team of "Rang De Basanti" for giving us such a fantastic, inspiring patriotic movie.

Pop star

She definitely had a very unique voice. She created ripples in the music world when she sang her first Bollywood song in "Qurbani". Yes, I am speaking about Nazia Hassan. I have always been fascinated by her voice. Few years back when I heard that she passed away, I had felt bad. But then I did not give it much thought. Yesterday I was listening to sound tracks of "Star". The songs sung by her in that album caught my attention. So I googled on her to find more about this singer. Only then I realized that she was also very, very beautiful. And also that she was involved in social activities. At the age of 35, she fought a lost battle against cancer and surrendered finally. Her personal life was also in a very sorry state affair. So she left this world as a troubled soul.

Even though she went away at a very young age, she will be very much alive through her songs like "Aap Jaisa koi", "Boom boom", "Khushi" and so on. Her haunting voice will always be unmatched.

Busy days are here again. 24 hours for a day seems so unfair again. I am so engrossed in my life again. And thank God for that! I completely agree that I am a workoholic and an idle mind or idle day is definitely a devil's workshop or me. :D

***********************************

I can see lot of depression floating around. And the worst part is that I can see lot of teenagers going into depression. They are under so much of constant pressure to perform and prove themselves. In fact, they are unable to enjoy the best phase of their lives. And here I thought that depression and IT industry went hand in hand!!

Somehow the image of Jill Caroll weeping and pleading continues to haunt me. It has been one month now since she has been abducted. Well, it is definitely bewildering about how a stranger's story can touch your heart!

Praying and hoping for her release......

It is a mad race out there. People are crazily rushing nowhere. All of them wanna be the best. There is competition everywhere- be it in traffic or at work or any other place. The race is so narcissistic that no one even stops to think about anyone else. And the worst part is that no one knows about the finishing line for this race; in fact, no one knows what is the race for!! Just the thought of being in this race is intimidating to me.
