In my neighbourhood: I see this lady everyday when I come to office. She also probably knows where my house is exactly located. She takes her dog for a walk everyday at the same time when I start to office. So today when I saw her, I smiled at her. She looked at me and walked away as if she had never even seen me. I felt as if I was smiling at some lacuna.
At my office: I know that this person works on the same floor as I do. We almost bump into each other everyday. So I smiled at him when I saw him today. He looked at me very suspiciously and turned away. I felt like an idiot.
Well, I have mentioned only 2 situations here. But this happens almost everyday and in most of the places. Somehow when it comes to a smile, people become very ungenerous. I have seen this trait especially in Indians. Many a times, the foreigners who are total strangers greet us with a smile. Anyways, it is not the question of nationalities. It is just that, maybe smiles are expensive now a days.:-)
Whatever it is, I shall continue my efforts in smiling and making others' smile. Who knows, one day they might finally take out their masks and smile at me!!!:-)))

I am guilty of this same trait. I don't smile at people I see everyday. I only smile at people who smile first, and I happen to like the vibes of. Crabby old me x-(
If you don't have a smile, I'll give you one of mine. ~Author Unknown
:-)
Send some my way, my bags are empty. It won't hurt you, you seem to have plenty.
Brighten my life, it lacks a few lamps.
And I will light some of yours, whenever I have the chance ;-)
-d
And then,(on an idealistic note) let us light others' lamps, sprechen. Let us become the torch bearers.:-)
Hehehehe! And quit our jobs and become the shining lamps of the world. Yea! Who needs documentation when there is light .. After all, God started with, "let there be light" ;-)
We can then horizontally expand the enterprise and become the next rainmakers. Maybe I am just dreaming.
Keep dreaming. You never know, some of them may come true.:-)
They may say I am a dreamer ... But I am not the only one.
No, u r not the only one 'coz I am also a dreamer.
I smile a lot, even when i'm angry or sad, that's my sin, I can't erase the smile in my face, some people told me that they always see me happy...well, I'm not always happy, but is not others fault so I don't understand why shouldn't I smile everybody..
Girl, u have penned down my thoughts verbatim. Thanks.:-)
Madhu,
Many people ask me the same question. Why are you always smiling - I think it happened as early as high school - and I felt like I was branded empty headed and mad. But thats the best way to be - smile - it costs nothing and brings cheer to another, brightens someone else's day.
I make it a point to try and be happy - and to count my blessings - that makes one a happier person - then your smile is always a natural reaction!
